Polyrhythm Awarded Commercial RF Sensor Contract

DAYTON, Ohio, October 1, 2025. Polyrhythm Software, LLC has been awarded an RF sensor contract to develop a production-ready commercial RF sensor system. The scope includes the sensor prototype, signal-processing algorithms, embedded and supporting software, field-test support, and fleet-management architecture.

The effort builds on Polyrhythm’s decades of experience in RF analysis, software engineering, sensor integration, and deployed systems. Under the contract, Polyrhythm will take the system from technical concept through prototype validation and production-ready handoff. That gives the customer a controlled, tested, and supportable baseline for manufacturing and deployment.

“Commercial sensor products need more than clever hardware,” said John Farrier, founder of Polyrhythm Software. “They need algorithms that hold up in the field, software that can be sustained, and deployment architecture that works when there are many devices operating in real environments.”

Polyrhythm’s scope includes RF sensor design support, algorithm development, production-ready software implementation, prototype integration, field testing, and fleet-management capabilities for deployed units. The company will not serve as the production manufacturer. Instead, Polyrhythm will deliver a tested prototype. It will also deliver a production-ready technical baseline that can be transitioned into manufacturing.

The award demonstrates Polyrhythm’s ability to build beyond software alone. The company brings together RF analysis, applied algorithms, embedded systems, product engineering, field-test discipline, and operational software needed to support commercial sensor deployment at scale.

That whole-system view is important for connected sensor products. NIST’s Cybersecurity for IoT Program highlights that IoT security involves devices, data, supporting systems, and the people who use them. For this RF sensor contract, the prototype cannot be the only product. The customer also needs software, configuration control, monitoring concepts, field-test evidence, and a path for deployed units to be managed over time.

Good product work asks simple questions early. Can the unit be built the same way twice? Can a field team see its state? Can a fix be shipped? Can support staff know which unit has which build? Those are software and data questions, not only sensor questions.

The production-ready handoff will therefore include more than an integrated device. It will include the algorithms, embedded and supporting software, architecture, and technical record needed for the next team. That team must be able to manufacture, deploy, monitor, update, and sustain the system. The record matters because fielded products have to survive variation in RF environments, operating conditions, support procedures, and deployment scale.

The field-test phase will help close that gap. Lab behavior is important, but RF products have to work through noise, motion, site variation, and user support limits. Polyrhythm’s job is to make sure those lessons are captured in the prototype, the algorithms, the software, and the handoff package.

“Getting from prototype to product is where many technical efforts fail,” Farrier said. “Our job is to make sure this system is not just an interesting sensor, but a product-ready capability that can be built, deployed, monitored, and improved.”
